Welcome to Water and the Well — I’m so glad you’re here! Whether you found us intentionally, or stumbled across us in some other way, you were meant to be here. My name is Allie and I’m a Registered Dietitian, Certified Personal Trainer, and a Natural Living Coach. I’m behind all things here at Water and the Well and I want to take this time to share a little bit about us with you!
I practice purely from a holistic standpoint — my goal for you as my client is to be healed from the inside out, and this could mean a number of things for you. For instance, as a Registered Dietitian, most clients come to me because of weight gain, looking for a diet or meal plan, but I like to take that a step further. At Water and the Well, we dive deep into your history to get a full picture of what exactly your body is telling us — WHY are you struggling to lose the weight? Every sign or symptom your body has, whether that be
gastrointestinal upset, skin conditions, mental health disorders, menstrual cramping, hair loss, blood sugar issues, high cholesterol, frequent urination, etc.
is your body yelling at you to pay attention! Yet in this day and age, we are taught to manage these symptoms and put them at bay with medication. At Water and the Well, we get to the ROOT cause of that sign or symptom. None of these signs or symptoms are normal, even though that is what we are often taught. Once I get your history, we will go down the list symptom by symptom, discussing why these symptoms may occur and how we can eliminate them at the root. Most clients come to me expecting a meal plan and set calorie goals, and for me to tell them what foods are good vs. bad, but this leads us directly into a path of yo-yo dieting. Don’t get me wrong, calorie counting has it’s place in our time together, and we use this as a tool later on, BUT counting calories and education on food is meant to make us AWARE, not to cause fear and restriction. Counting calories is NOT normal on a regular basis — it is not good for mental health which plays an enormous role in our overall health and weight management. Typically, once we start to eliminate symptom by symptom at the root, the weight on the scale begins to change. This is often because a symptom is the sign of underlying inflammation in the body, and if there is any sort of inflammation going on, that is the body’s priority, NOT your weight. It is busy trying to maintain homeostasis, and you are trying to throw it even more out of balance. My goal as your coach is to educate you on nutrition, exercise, and the chemicals in our environment, so that you understand how these things can positively or negatively impact your health goals, and you feel empowered to make a change because you are confident in understanding what that change means for you and your overall health.
